Stetson and Sandy With Ribbons Stetson Holding a Pheasant Stetson With His Pheasants
Breeder: Marjo Jaakkola Owner: Sandra N. Holmes-DOB=5-6-98
Stetson was imported from Finland in 1998 to help increase the genetic diversity of the Welsh Springer in the USA. Unfortunately Stetson was born with a condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and has no sight in his left eye. He has been neutered and remains a loved and valuable member of our doggie family. Stetson was Winners Dog at the 2000 American Spaniel Club Show and Reserve Winners Dog from the 9-12 mo. puppy class at the 1999 WSSCA National specialty.
Note: Although thought to be hereditary in some breeds of dogs Optic Nerve Hypoplasia can be caused by environmental factors. Just because Stetson has ONH does not mean that his siblings are carriers of this trait. Although this is a possibility it does not make it certain. Once again please use this information constructively/not destructively!!! Setson shown with his breeder Marjo Jaakkola (Kennel Benton). Stetson in 9 years old in this photo. Stetson easily earned his JH title by passing four straight legs in a row. Stetson has turned out to be a wonderful hunting companion for Greg! Stetson is an easy dog to hunt with, he stays close and is a great retriever. Here they are after a successful day of pheasant hunting.
